Games Set in Outer Space

Did you know there are more trees on Earth than there are stars in the Milky Way? Or that there are over 1500 board games about Outer Space? Now you do!

Space. The Final Frontier.

Or the Final FUNtier – amirite??    (Yeah, I’ll see myself out.)

Anyways, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of games set in outer space. Chances are you’ve played at least one—maybe even when you were a kid. I know I did.

What was it about these games that they made it on this list? Because you can read reviews for each one of them right here on Meeple Mountain!

Cryo

2021

Your ship has crashed on an alien planet. You only have a few hours to use drones to collect the necessary resources to rescue your surviving crewmembers and transport them underground to safety.

Warp's Edge

2020

Battle waves of familiar-feeling aliens in this solo-only game about rewinding time to avoid destruction at the hands of a seemingly unstoppable fleet.

Galaxy Trucker (2021 Edition)

2021

The classic tile-laying game that combines frenzied shipbuilding with flying that ship to deliver goods while avoiding pirates, diseases, meteors, and your opponents.

Tom Franklin

By day, I'm a mild-mannered IT Manager with a slight attitude. By night I play guitar & celtic bouzouki, board games, and watch British TV. I love abstracts, co-ops, worker placement and tile-laying games. Basically, any deep game with lots of interesting choices.

You can find my middle grade book, The Pterrible Pteranodon, at your favorite online bookstore.

And despite being a DM, I have an inherent dislike of six-sided dice.
