Sam Heyman (he/they) is a playwright, author, and long-time gamer based in Nashville, TN. Sam has been a fan of tabletop gaming for much of his life, enjoying games ranging from the likes of Parker Brothers and Milton Bradley to more modern publishers like Brotherwise Games and Space Cowboys. Sam's primary tabletop gaming interest is Magic: the Gathering, which he began playing in earnest in 2016, around the release of Kaladesh block. Although he has had aspirations toward the world of game design over the years, Sam's current professional focus is on the written word. Sam writes stories for a variety of different mediums, from scripts for the stage and screen to novel length work. Sam's writing has been published by CBR, Hashtag Queer, Ordinary Space, Typehouse, Smith & Kraus, and River & South Review, and their plays can be found on New Play Exchange. During his tenure at CBR.com, Sam wrote a series of gaming lists and articles centering on their interests, from Magic: The Gathering to Japanese Role Playing Games to underrated series deserving of more love and awareness. Sam is excited to bring his passion for gaming and unique vantage to Meeple Mountain, and broaden his tabletop horizons while paying homage to titles he has loved over the years.
