Recent Articles & Reviews by David Baker

I am an intellectual property attorney, military historian, and game designer based in southwestern Montana, where I play as many games as I can despite my wife’s insistence that we hit the local hiking trails or ski slopes.

I run an active trademark and copyright law practice in California, Montana, and Texas with clients primarily in the technology, publishing, and popular media spaces. I often write for legal publications as well as military history periodicals and have just completed two books for publication, Trademark Lawyering and Under the Bear Flag. I publish the popular IP Matters newsletter and have recently started developing board games under the Depth Charge Board Games imprint.

I travel quite a bit, not least because my wife is an executive with a big biomedical firm, and I attend as many game and comic book conventions as she allows. It’s rare that I’m not building and painting miniatures, especially historical models from World War II and the American Civil War, and I have an unhealthy addiction to collecting comic book art.

I have two adult kids, both of whom live in Denver, and we trade off hosting game nights. My wife and I live in Bozeman where our German Shepherd ‘Kaiser’ has been known to end an entire tabletop game with a single swish of his mighty tail.
